The stud operates from the Herdade da Tramagueira, in the municipal and county district of Beja, Portugal, as an agricultural operation geared to cattle, sheep and Lusitano purebred horse breeding activities, with great landscape and environmental principles. The stud’s various areas of permanent meadowland, both unirrigated and irrigated, provide ideal conditions for our animals’ proper development.
The stud currently has tent own brand Lusitano mares, with almost all of the breeding stock being daughters and granddaughters of NILO (M.V.) and OPUS 72 (M.V.). All have the VEIGA bloodline.
The following horses, who have proved themselves to be outstanding at the highest levels of the Lusitano breed, predominate in terms of our animals’ genealogy: NILO (M.V.), OPUS72 (M.V.), XAQUIRO (Quina), FIRME (S.A.), UNIVERSO (M.V.), ZELADOR (M.A.C.), ELEITO (M.A.C.), SPARTACUS (CSM), CAMPEADOR (CSM), IMPOSSÍVEL (BN), SOBERANO (GUB), HOSTIL (JGB) and ASSIRIO (FBC).
We have concentrated on a painstakingly strict selection of stallions/broodmares, with the aim of breeding good natured horses with high levels of functionality, physical structure and slenderness, while never disregarding those characteristics which make the Lusitano such an unrivalled horse: BREEDING.
Our endeavours have been rewarded by several prizes in Model and Movements competitions at the International Lusitano Purebred Festival, Golegã Fair and OviBeja, as well as in England, in the Royal Windsor Show, in adition to several horses with outstanding performances in dressage events and bullfighting.
Most of our horses have been sold to other countries, mainly to Spain, France, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland and England.
The Stud is provided with two arenas, exterior and interior, as well as a set of fourteen boxes, several padocks, exterior parks with high-quality pastures and still several areas of social and recreational support.
We also are having in the stud the cooperation of the dressage rider Angelique Hofman, since March 2011.
During 2012 we will use the following stallions in the mares: Don Soberano da Tramagueira (Monte da Tramagueira Stud), Spartacus (Santa Margarida Stud), Campeador (Santa Margarida Stud) and Hostil (Borba Stud). See the crossings in the photo and link bellow.
Our horse DON SOBERANO da Tramagueira, champion of the three years old class during Golegã Fair 2011 and gold medal, is available for matings. We will have also semen available. Don Soberano is a son of Soberano (Borba) out of Hostil (Borba) and son of Urtiga, from our stud, a mare with 81 points in the Lusitano Stud Book, out of Universo (Veiga) and Hanover by Nilo (Veiga). Our horse Don Soberano da Tramagueira, out of Soberano out of Hostil and Urtiga out of Universo, won the three years old competition for the lusitano horses during Golegã Fair 2011. He also received gold. We are very proud of him. See the photos on facebook.
